Houston we have a problem
Well not really a full blown problem yet. These are exciting times around the Fontenot house. Connor is a scooter. He prefers to scoot naked. Actually he has a diaper because I'm not crazy and don't want him scooting in his own pee. He gets so excited scooting his way towards me that he stops and laughs every few scoots. LOVE IT! Today I pulled out his big boy caterpillar dump truck and sure as shit he pulled himself up to standing not once but twice! Really kid? Won't crawl though...has no interest in being on his tummy or back if it ain't for sleeping. I wonder if we will skip crawling or be like his Dad and do crawling after walking?! As soon as he figures out how to sit up from laying down the matteress level in the crip must go down. I put him in there sitting while I put his laundry away and he sure did pull himself up on the side of the crib. I am NOT ready for this. When did he grow up?! I'm determined to get the camcorder out and take some video of all this awesomeness that is going on!

Well Hello 2010
I’ve already screwed you up! Ok not really but I’ve already broken one of my resolutions. Well I didn’t really make any concrete resolutions but if I did I’ve already failed. After going through our receipts for 2009 I realize I have spent A LOT of money on coffee…I guess I do have addiction. I’m also still hanging on to some of that baby weight and the sugary coffee weight and I love good food weight…that’s a lot of weight! Ugh!
So that brings me the not concrete resolutions.
1. Spend less money. Especially on coffee for me & energy drinks for Sid.
2. Eat better & exercise…however since I’m spending less I’m not joining any program or gym…just going to be hardworking and dedicated. :/
3. Plan a weekly menu & grocery shop accordingly. We actually already started this and it’s going pretty good.
4. Piggy backing on the above I’m also making sure if I buy an item for a meal and only need half I must cook something else that week using the other half. I’ve wasted so much food by only using half the package.
5. Take some time for ME…me me me! Between the cooking, cleaning and child care I’m burnt out. Then I get kinda bitchy and well there is no need for that. So I’m going to make an effort to go out and do something by myself…maybe grab a coffee! Shit?!
6. Learn to use my camera. I mean really learn to use it. Sid got me a nice zoom lens for Christmas but I still have no idea what I am doing. A dslr is just so overwhelming. I'd also like to learn how to edit the photo's I do have. I've already got a hand me down version of adobe photoshop but again...Overwhelming! I’d love to go to shoot camp but at $150 it breaks rule #1…spend less money.
7. Send out birthday cards to members of our family…near and far. I’ve actually got everyone’s birthday on the calendar so that’s the 1st step!
8. Go to church. Well maybe. I wasn’t raised religiously but it’s important for me to teach Connor about faith and God. I don’t think we will ever be devout worshipers but it won’t hurt to have a little faith, ah faith, ah faith. Maybe we could get Grandma Sandra to attend with us. At least if we go to Catholic church we will get some exercise!
9. Find a job. (A real one not this work as needed for Ohno gig I got going on) Really?! Yes…why because I actually miss working. I miss adult interaction. I also want a really expensive coach purse…lol
10. Find out how they make Chipotle’s hot salsa. I tried something last week and it was a FAIL. I think I should just get a job there to find out the recipe.
11. Get pregnant…haha no I’m kidding. Wait am I?! I’ll never tell…
12. Read more. Actually in the last week I’ve read two books. I got a nook (e-reader) for Christmas and now that I have a fancy gadget I love to read! Unfortunately I’ve got a stack of books on my night stand that are actually books I need to read too. After going digital and then going back it feels so outdated! lol
13. Get our closet/bonus room organized. It’s a mess. We have enough kitchen gadgets and shit that we could run a little restaurant out of our shed. It’s also crammed full of camping gear, rifles, Connor’s swing and tank that Grandpa Roxwell left him, Wrapping paper & bows (that what I get for shopping at Costco) & a bunch of other crap Sid won’t part with. Actually most of that is crammed in the corner in haphazard organized fashion. But the file cabinet is where I need to be. We have not filed 2008 shit and now we are about to add 2009 to the pile. Ugh!
14. Finish the last 10% of all our home improvement projects. It’s embarrassing to have people over and have them see that we still need to touch up the paint or fill in the nail holes. I will NOT start on our room until we are finished up on everything else. Now that Connor is getting more independent I can help Sid without having Connor cry to be held or fed.
So if you haven’t figured it out it was the coffee resolution I broke today. The eating right actually hasn’t started yet. We are staring on Tuesday because that’s when Biggest Loser starts back up. I did get some files organized and gathered up our receipts for our taxes.
Well I’ve got 363 more days to make my non-resolutions happen. Wish me luck!

Read this blog post. I doubt it. He only checks the blog out for the pictures. :)

Ain't no party like a 1st birthday party!
Happy New Year!! It was a big day for us because we were hosting the family over for some prime rib...Yum! But first we attended Brody's one year birthday party. Connor was his usual dapper self and enjoying the chance to show off his big boy eating skills. The balloons held most of his attention but he was defiantly checking out what was going on around him. Would you believe though that Connor actually went bananas...Yes I said BANANAS...for the cupcake. No he has never had one before but by the way he reacted you'd think he has been enjoying them his whole life.

What can you do in 7 months?!
I'll tell ya what I can do...Raise a pretty AWESOME kid! :)
I weighed Connor on the unofficial wii fit at 7 months but I think he was actually less than what he weighed in at the doctors at 6 months. ;( Why my baby don't gain weight? I weighed him tonight 1/9 after his bath (and a full day of food!) and he weighed in at a tad under 17 1/2 pounds. 2 thumbs up to that! Why can't I have his metabolism?

This is why I had a kid!
CHRISTMAS!!(and the carpool lane but I'll talk about that later) I am 30 years old and this has been the BEST Christmas EVER! Sure me and Sid scored some sweet stuff but just getting to see the look on Connor's face as he ripped open the paper and ate it was priceless. I know it will only get better as he get older and starts to understand what is going on. Plus I got to be a kid again after he went to bed and play with his toys! Man I hope this kid does not mind getting a barbie dream house and a remote control car (with OUT the cord attaching the remote and car). I missed out on getting those when I was kid and I have not forgotten...I will get Connor two just to make it all right in the world! :)

Merry Christmas!
Today we spent the day getting the few last minute things we needed for tomorrow...Pie, cheesecake and pecans for brittle. Does everything in this family have to do with food? Yes! I don't know what I'm looking forward to more...my presents or Connor's. I'm more excited for him even though I know he doesn't get it yet but I still see us having so much fun watching him "open" his presents. We will teach him about Jesus some other day! Sid and I decided we are going to start a new Christmas Eve tradition...Pizza! Actually we love our homemade pizza's so much we'd use anything as an excuse to have them.
