Somebody is watching over us...

This is the hardest post to write...some have told me it's hard to read. I promise it ends good!

Sunday we had friends over for the Super Bowl. The kids were upstairs playing nicely while we watched the game downstairs. I fixed some food for them and we were having a good time. It was around the end of the 1st quarter when Connor came downstairs and said Sydney was making weird noises. I remember thinking she was probably just trying to annoy him. I was so not concerned that I wasn't even one of the first adults to go check. But then as calm as can be Bri said I should come upstairs. What I found was her doing the heimlich on Sydney. I can't exactly remember what I did or said next ...I know I was asking
Bri to tell me want to do and to save her. The whole time she's working on Sydney she's calm, giving me instructions and talking to Sydney. It wasn't until Sydney became unconscious that her jaw relaxed enough for me to get anything out. It was a relief when I finally dug meatballs out of her throat. By now Sid is on the phone with 911. There was some question about if rescue breaths should be started next...I know I just kept telling Bri to do it. I was freaking out but she seemed so calm. I can't remember how long she did that for but Sydney finally took a breath. But she was still in bad shape. By now the paramedics showed up. I know they gave her oxygen but I wasn't paying attention if they did anything else. I was just so happy to hear my baby start to cry. Stupidly  I still expected her to bounce right back. Yeah not so much. We went by ambulance to Children's hospital and the whole ride she cried and would try to push the oxygen mask away but wouldn't open her eyes and respond to me. It wasn't until we pulled up to the ER that she became really alert. They moved us quickly to a ER room (#12!) and got  an IV going and vitals. Sydney was tough and brave and handled the poking and X-rays like a champ! X-rays showed she aspirated some food and/or vomit into her lungs and we were admitted overnight for observation. They gave me worst case scenerio and even though I tried not to think about it I didn't sleep much that night. All the Dr., nurses and first responders have told me that Sydney is incredibly lucky and it's not often that a case of choking has such a positive outcome. I may have turned into a little bit of a helicopter parent the last couple days which is unusual for me. For all she went through Sydney didn't complain and never cried again once we were at the ER. I'm just so amazed by our 3 year old! I couldn't be prouder of Connor for noticing and saying something! I'm beyond thankful that Bri was there and that she had just did a first aid/CPR class! Seriously I could hug and kiss Bri every time I see her! I'm so grateful and feel really lucky to have her in our life! I urge everyone to take a first aid/CPR class ASAP. I will be taking one for sure! It really does save lives!!

Before heading for X-rays. (They put a sock over her IV portial thingy and we called it a sock puppet ..she even brought it home!)

Finally getting some rest!

Cuddled up in bed (we were all decked out for the game...they had to cut her Wilson jersey off!)

Feeling better the next morning. Dr. let her have a Popsicle for breakfast!

Discharged!

Off to school she goes!

I sent my not even 3 yet baby off to preschool. Thankfully she spent 4 weeks doing "camp" with Connor so she was familiar with it all. The teacher said she did great her first day. We are excited she already has a friend in the class. It is the little sister of our friend in Connor's class.

Back to school!!

Finally school is back! I'm so excited for all that Connor is going to be learning this year. Although he was a little bummed Sydney doesn't get to go with him he was happy to see some friends in his class.

Where in the world...

I've fallen off the blogging wagon again! It has been a very busy summer. I don't want it to end but at the same time I want our schedule back! I came to the blog today to look at wedding pictures...today is our 5 year anniversary. I married one of the good guys that's for sure. He's been a constant source of love and support. He is a great husband and father! Anyway about our summer...

We've took the kids tent camping on Whidbey Island...it went much better than expected! Connor must of declared his love for camping and s'mores a million times! Miss Sydney was a worried about the fire at first but eventually got over it. I got a chance to take a weekend trip to Camano Island with 9 other girls for a friends birthday ...what a treat that was!

We had a fun Fourth of July with our good friends. The kids are the best of friends and really is great to just be able to hang out and to have to worry about impressing anyone.

Sid and I took an early anniversary trip to Maui. 9 days without our kiddos! I think around day 6 I really missed them. We skyped but I think that may of done more harm than good. Still we were luckly that things fell into place the way they did and we were able to go.

As soon as we got back both kids started summer "camp"...2 hours a day 4 days a week. I can't tell you how much having just 2 hrs to yourself recharges you and really makes me a better mother. They are loving school...so thankful that Sydney was able to go being she's not even 3 yet. Each week has been a different theme...they have had medieval adventures, culinary cuisine (they got aprons with their names and actually helped cook!) and all around the world where they made passports and cultural projects. Kiddy style of course! Upcoming is superhero adventures which I know Connor is super excited for!

Besides all that we having been just trying to cram as much fun while the weather is good as we can. We have gone to the zoo with friends ( one time we had 4 moms and 10 kids...we were they zoo that day!), bike rides, walks , trips to the park, remlinger farms (kids are still talking about it weeks later!). We have a couple bbq planned and hoping the weather holds out for a trip to jetty island.

We've been so busy we have not had a chance to get to all the projects we wanted to get done but we've have bee having so much fun it's all worth it. I've hardly been been able to keep up with my gym schedule either but I get there when I can!
